110 bhp, 2,660 cc OHV inline four-cylinder engine, dual SU H4 carburetors, cold air box, four-speed manual gearbox with overdrive, independent front suspension with wishbones and coil springs, live rear axle with semi-elliptic leaf springs, Girling disk brakes front and  hydraulic drum brakes rear. Twin circuit brakes have been fitted for modern safety.

Soon after its debut, the Austin-Healey 100 roadster set Bonneville speed records and contested Le Mans, where it finished second and third in class for 1953. It has been a sought-after sports car ever since. This example from 1956 benefits from a fresh and complete frame-off restoration. The two-stage DuPont polyurethane silver finish is complemented by a red vinyl interior with matching English wool carpeting and a specially-ordered red armachord trunk kit. A black hood, a tonneau cover and side curtains are also fitted.

Additional features include twin 1½-inch SU H4 carburetors with polished domes mated to a four-speed manual gearbox with overdrive. The car is also equipped with the desirable “Le Mans” kit: the cold-air box, distributor,  hi-compression pistons, 100M racing cam, aluminium lead-free cylinder head, alternator, starter, “Le Mans” dash plates and a louvered aluminum bonnet with a Le Mans-regulation bonnet hold-down strap.

Other desirable mechanical features include a late-series 4.11:1 BN2 differential with four-wheel hydraulic, concentric-ring jet-coated drum brakes, a new steel racing dual-sidepipe exhaust system, new braided brake lines, new master brake and slave cylinders, new fuel lines, a new fuel pump, new gas tank, polished side plate, polished aluminum cooling fan, new four-row aluminium radiator, all-new electrical components and a cloth wiring harness. 72-spoke black wire wheels with new Avon 185x15 tires, new Moto-Lita-type steering wheel and a drop-down racing windscreen round out the impressive and usable package. Offered complete with a British Motor Industry Heritage Trust certificate and full photo-documentation, this example is simply superb and is offered by Smiths Classics.
